Turkish State Theatres Presents the 4th International Women Playwrights Theatre Festival
Istanbul, 6 – 15 February 2026

The Turkish State Theatres is proud to announce the 4th International Women Playwrights Theatre Festival, taking place in Istanbul from 6 to 15 February 2026.

In a world where contradictions and challenges continue to deepen, the sensitivity and perspective of women remain indispensable in offering fresh approaches and new solutions. Women who participate fully in economic, social and cultural life bring invaluable contributions to theatre through their voices, stories and critique of the world around them. With growing visibility, women playwrights are creating powerful works that draw from lived experience and shine a light on universal issues.

The International Women Playwrights Theatre Festival celebrates these voices, presenting outstanding stage performances of plays written exclusively by women from across the globe. The festival aims to highlight both local and universal themes, raise awareness of conflict areas, and provide a platform for exploring solutions through the lens of women’s perspectives.

The 2026 edition will once again transform Istanbul into a meeting point for international theatre, offering audiences the chance to experience unique works that reflect the creativity, insight and artistic strength of women writers.

We invite theatres from around the world to take part in this important cultural event by sharing plays written by women in their repertoires.

Join us in Istanbul to celebrate women’s voices in theatre and their enduring contribution to the art of storytelling.
